The Community Support and Development Initiatives (CSADI) has called for increased support for children at the Kano State Children Remand Home, with the Director of Gwauron Dutse Remand Children’s Home, Alhaji Musa Idris Tarauni, urging leading non-governmental organisations and other well-meaning stakeholders to emulate the organisation’s intervention.
Tarauni made the call while commending CSADI for its latest visit to the remand home, during which the organisation provided essential items and pledged continued educational support for the children.
The intervention, led by the Executive Director of CSADI, Hajiya Zaina Ahmed Suleiman, MFR, JP, focused on supporting the children’s education, healthcare, nutrition and general welfare, as well as providing some of the basic items required for their day-to-day activities.

During the visit, Hajiya Zaina donated mats, soap, notebooks, pencils and sharpeners to the children. CSADI also provided highly nutritious Tom Brown to support their nutritional needs.
Beyond the immediate donations, the Executive Director pledged that CSADI would send teachers to the home on a weekly basis to provide educational training, academic support and guidance to the children.
The commitment, according to CSADI, is intended to ensure that the intervention goes beyond one-off donations and provides sustained educational and personal development support for the children while they remain at the facility.
Speaking during the visit, Tarauni expressed appreciation to CSADI for remembering the children and responding to some of their pressing needs. He described the intervention as significant, particularly because it combined material assistance with education, guidance and concern for the children’s future.
He said CSADI’s gesture should serve as a reminder to leading non-governmental organisations, philanthropists, well-to-do individuals and other stakeholders that children at the remand home require sustained attention and support.
Tarauni urged other organisations to emulate CSADI by contributing towards the children’s education, healthcare, nutrition, rehabilitation and general welfare, stressing that collective support would help create better opportunities for the children.
The CSADI Executive Director also appealed to governments at all levels, well-to-do individuals, philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to come to the aid of children at the remand home.
She stressed that supporting vulnerable children should be regarded as a collective responsibility, noting that assistance in education, healthcare, nutrition and other essential areas could help them overcome their challenges and become responsible and productive members of society.
The children were also counselled during the visit on the importance of good behaviour, discipline and responsibility. They were reminded of their obligations to become good and productive members of society, while being encouraged to make positive choices and take advantage of educational opportunities available to them.
The children, whose names are withheld because they are underage, also expressed appreciation for the visit in an interview with Global Tracker.
They described Hajiya Zaina as a “mother,” philanthropist and a woman who always comes to their aid whenever the need arises, expressing gratitude for her continued concern for their welfare.
The intervention reflects CSADI’s broader community development approach, which combines humanitarian assistance with education, nutrition, healthcare, guidance and support for vulnerable groups.
The organisation’s latest pledge to provide weekly teachers at the remand home is expected to strengthen the children’s access to learning and guidance, while the appeal to other stakeholders underscores the need for a broader partnership to address the multiple needs of children in care.
The visit therefore marked not only a donation of essential materials, but also a renewed call for collective responsibility and sustained investment in the education, rehabilitation, health and future of remand children in Kano State.
