“The dispute has been settled and we have reunited as one family. We will continue to work together more than ever before,” Rurum stated.

He commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as timely intervention and sincere efforts toward restoring peace among political stakeholders in Kano South.

On his part, Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South Senatorial District, described the disagreement as a misunderstanding fueled by external influences.

“We are one family, and what united us is more than politics. We have family ties and other relationships beyond imagination. What happened was misunderstanding, and we have resolved the differences. It is indeed the devil’s work,” Kawu Sumaila said.

The senator stressed that both leaders had agreed to move forward in the interest of party unity and political stability in the state.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress> (APC) in Kano State, Umar Haruna Doguwa, urged party supporters to put the disagreement behind them and focus on strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

“I would like to thank Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his foresight and quick intervention. This shows that he is truly a leader,” Doguwa stated.

The reconciliation meeting reportedly had in attendance several APC stakeholders, including Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, APC Ex-Officio Muhammad Jamu, Umar Haruna Doguwa, Senator Kawu Sumaila, and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum.

The reconciliation is significant due to the influence both leaders command in Kano South, regarded as one of the state’s most politically strategic zones.

The meeting also appears connected to ongoing political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly within the APC structure in Kano State.

In a further show of unity, both Rurum and Kawu Sumaila jointly invited their supporters to attend the planned affirmation of Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila as Kano South senatorial candidate scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026.
