The Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has officially commissioned a new office complex for its Compliance and Enforcement Group as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen revenue generation and improve tax administration in Kano State.
The newly commissioned office, located at Sani Abacha Way in Nassarawa Local Government Area, is expected to enhance operational efficiency and support enforcement activities aimed at improving the state’s internally generated revenue.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Zainab Aliyu Yar Gaya, commended the leadership of KIRS under Zaid Abubakar for what she described as remarkable efforts toward improving revenue generation in the state.

She urged staff of the Compliance and Enforcement Group to maintain professionalism, patience, commitment, hard work, and integrity while carrying out their responsibilities.
“You must apply professionalism, patience, commitment, hard work, and uphold trustworthiness in the discharge of your duties. This will enable you to work effectively and achieve your targets,” she stated.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of KIRS, Zaid Abubakar, appreciated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for supporting the agency’s reform initiatives and providing the necessary resources to modernize the state’s revenue system.
According to him, the state government has continued to improve the operational capacity of KIRS through the provision of computers, equipment, and a conducive working environment for staff.
“We appreciate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving us the opportunity to improve the working system of Kano Internal Revenue Service in different ways, including the provision of computers and enabling environment for our staff,” he said.
Dr. Zaid Abubakar further charged the Executive Director of the Compliance and Enforcement Group, Abba Muhammad Ali, and his team to intensify efforts toward improving revenue generation across the state.
He urged the enforcement team to utilize the newly commissioned office and modern facilities provided to enhance efficiency and strengthen compliance operations.
“The new office for the Compliance and Enforcement Group is equipped with modern facilities, including internet services, that will enable staff to carry out their duties effectively. Therefore, we expect them to redouble their efforts,” he added.
Officials disclosed that the office was designed to improve coordination, monitoring, and enforcement activities within the tax system while supporting the broader objective of increasing internally generated revenue for sustainable development in Kano State.
The development reflects ongoing reforms within KIRS aimed at modernizing tax administration, strengthening compliance mechanisms, and improving public revenue management under the present administration.
