The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended its Chairman and Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Albasu Constituency of Albasu Local Government Area of Kano State, pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct and other matters relating to the discharge of their official responsibilities.

The suspended officials are Bashir Safiyanu Mai Daura, Party Chairman, and Naziru Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer.

The suspension letter was read to the two officials by Comrade Hudu Sabo Albasu, Welfare Secretary of the NDC in Albasu Local Government Area, who also doubles as the Coordinator of the Obi/Kwankwaso movement in Albasu Local Government Area, a copy of which was sent to GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent in Kano on Tuesday.

According to the notice, the suspension was endorsed by more than 30 executives and members of the party in Albasu, who signed the letter announcing the disciplinary action.

The notice stated that the suspension was temporary and would remain in force pending the conclusion of an investigation into the allegations against the two officials.

Following the suspension, the party appointed Adamu Ɗan Atan as Interim Chairman and Kabiru Adamu as Interim Public Relations Officer for the constituency.

The interim officials are expected to oversee the affairs of the party at the constituency level for an initial period of three months, pending the completion of the investigation and submission of the investigative committee’s report.

The notice stated that the interim arrangement would remain in effect for three months or until the investigative committee concludes its assignment and submits its report, whichever comes first.

No specific details of the allegations of misconduct against the suspended officials were contained in the notice made available.

The action is therefore subject to the outcome of the investigation, which is expected to determine the next steps regarding the suspended officials and the leadership of the constituency.

The development represents an internal disciplinary action at the Albasu Constituency level, and the notice does not indicate that the suspension affects the wider Kano State or national Leadership structures of the party.

The NDC leadership in Albasu is expected to continue its activities under the interim arrangement while the investigative process is ongoing.
