The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kano state chapter says its members would boycott any interview involving a technical crew of Kano Pillars over insults on its Ex-Officio in charge of Northwestern Nigeria and three other members by technical adviser to pillars.

This was contained in a statement signed by Secretary of the Association Muhammad Nur Tijjani and sent to GLOBAL TRACKER, a copy of which is made available to (NPFL), National Football Federation (NFF), SWAN National body, All state chapters, and Kano state Football Association.

The statement read “On Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, following post-match press conference of match day 25 between host Kano Pillars and visiting Rangers International at Sani Abacha Stadium, a regrettable incident occurred which led to the State wing of sports writers announced total stay out of all interface with Kano Pillars FC Technical Crew until further notice.

During and after the post-match press conference, there was a rain of insults by the Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars FC on members of the aforementioned outfit particularly the SWAN National Ex-Officio in charge of Northwest and 3 other Excos which clearly shows it as intentional due to one simple technical question of “why do you changed the team that played against Rivers Utd”.

This behaviour according to the body, was deemed unacceptable and disrespectful, hence led us to take a final decision on the matter until appropriate action is taken to ensure mutual understanding and trust being partners and progress

Sincerely speaking, It is crucial to emphasize the importance of respectful and professional relationships between sports clubs and the media, as mutual understanding and cooperation are essential for the promotion of journalism in the field aimed at ensuring the overall growth of the industry.
