It is with profound sadness that Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State announces the passing of a true icon, renowned business tycoon, and dedicated philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
A statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, on Saturday, revealed that Alhaji Dantata passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi.
The statement described Alhaji Aminu Dantata as a foundational figure in Kano State’s and Nigeria’s economic landscape.

According to the statement ” Alhaji Dantata visionary leadership and entrepreneurial spirit built a business empire that created countless opportunities and significantly contributed to the nation’s prosperity.
The statement added that “his legacy in commerce serves as an inspiration for generations of aspiring entrepreneurs.
The governor disclosed that “beyond his business achievements, Alhaji Dantata was a compassionate philanthropist who touched innumerable lives through his generosity.
“Alhaji Dantata funded education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, and community development projects, believing in giving back to society and empowering people,” the statement emphasised.
Governor Yusuf said, “Kano State has lost one of its most distinguished sons. Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s wisdom, guidance, and dedication to our state’s progress will be deeply missed.”
He described the deceased as a mentor, father figure, and true elder statesman whose counsel was invaluable.
On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, Governor Yusuf extended his deepest condolences to the Dantata family.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grants Alhaji Dantata eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus and provides his family and loved ones with the strength to bear this loss.
