One of the rising University in Kano state, the Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, has joined the nation in mourning the death of one of Nigeria’s most respected business moguls and philanthropists, Alhaji (Dr) Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who passed away recently.
The university’s Academic Secretary, Hassan Abdurrahman, on behalf of the Sit-In Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulhadi Sale Kumurya, said Al-Istiqama expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the elder statesman, describing him as a visionary leader whose life was devoted to uplifting humanity.
According to the statement, Alhaji Dantata’s contributions to education, especially his sponsorship of 100 less-privileged students during the take-off of the University, reflect his lifelong commitment to youth empowerment and knowledge development.

“Alhaji Aminu Dantata was not just a business tycoon and philanthropist, but a mentor and father figure whose generosity and service positively impacted countless lives,” the statement reads.
The University noted that his death marks a monumental loss to the country, with tributes pouring in from leaders nationwide acknowledging his invaluable contributions to economic growth, social development, and national unity.
“We join millions across Nigeria in mourning the passing of a man whose legacy will forever inspire generations. May Almighty Allah (SWT) grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and comfort his family, friends, and all who mourn this great loss,” the statement concluded.
