FRCN Kano’s Longest-Serving Correspondent Retires

The longest serving Kano state correspondent of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Malam Mujtaba Ramalan Bello has retired from service.

The veteran journalist who retired as General Manager of Pride FM Gusau, Zamfara state was one time vice chairman of the Kano state correspondent chapel of the Nigeria union of journalist (NUJ) and former acting general manager of Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM Kano.

Malam Mujtaba Ramalan Bello’s newscasting in the 1990s captivated the mind with his golden and sonorous voice.

NIGERIAN TRACKER report that he joined the FRCN in 1993 and was one of the best news presenters for Sashin Hausa, Radio Nigeria Kaduna, presenting news and political programmes.

In 2003, he was transferred to Yola, Adamawa State, as FRCN correspondent, and in 2007, he was transferred to Kano, where he served until 2014.

He started as a reporter/translator and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Director of News.

He became General Manager of Pride FM Gusau in 2017 and served until his retirement in August 2025.

Malam Mujtaba is happily married.

He tied the knot in 1991, just before graduating from BUK, and is blessed with one wife, nine children seven girls and two boys and 11 grandchildren.

Malam Mujtaba Ramalan Bello hails from Zaria in Kaduna State.
