Russian President Putin Holds Phone Call with India’s PM Modi, Reaffirms Economic, Security Ties

The president of Russian federation and the prime minister of India Narendra Modi has held a phone call as the two nations assured economic and security ties.

During the phone call, Vladimir Putin offered his best wishes to Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, wishing him good health, prosperity and further success in his service to the nation.

The development comes as United state president Donald Trump announced sanctions on India for buying oils from Russia, the move considered as supporting Ukraine war.

The President of Russia emphasised that under Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is pursuing an independent, sovereign policy while demonstrating impressive economic results.

Vladimir Putin stressed that throughout the course of recent history, the relations between India and Russia have remained friendly and enjoyed nation-wide support in both countries.

He also expressed satisfaction with the current progress of the special and privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India, which also enjoys Narendra Modi’s considerable personal contribution.

The two leaders discussed the preparations for the Russian President’s upcoming visit to India, which is planned for December this year, and addressed a range of international issues, including the situation surrounding Ukraine.

In addition, the President of Russia sent Narendra Modi a message of greetings.
