Jama’atu Wa’azi Wal Irshad Association has inaugurated Imam Sheikh Ali Aliyu as its new Executive Chairman and Leader, with the cleric unveiling a broad reform agenda aimed at strengthening the association’s administration, expanding Islamic propagation, enhancing members’ welfare and deepening community engagement in Kano state and Nigeria in general.
The inauguration ceremony held at the Zam-Zam Juma’at Mosque, Hotoro, in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, following the death of the association’s former chairman.
The event was attended by prominent Islamic scholars, clerics and members of the association from within and outside Kano State, including the representative of Sheikh Umar Sani Fagge and Dr. Bala Muhammad of the Faculty of Communication, Bayero University, Kano.

Delivering his inaugural address, Imam Ali Aliyu pledged to introduce a bureaucratic and institutional system of leadership to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in the management of the association’s affairs.
He explained that all requests, complaints and official correspondence would henceforth be submitted in writing to the Executive Chairman, who would assign them to the appropriate committee or subcommittee for consideration and implementation.
The new Executive Chairman also announced plans to adopt new and more effective approaches to Islamic Da’wah, saying the association would strengthen public enlightenment programmes to provide guidance on religious and contemporary societal issues.
He said the organisation would seek partnerships with foreign Islamic Da’wah and humanitarian organisations to expand its preaching activities, improve Islamic education and enhance community-based interventions.
Imam Ali Aliyu further pledged to strengthen the association’s welfare programmes by supporting the families of deceased members and organising regular visits to prisons and correctional centres during Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and other festive periods to provide Islamic preaching, spiritual counselling and humanitarian support to inmates.
Highlighting the association’s organisational structure, he said Jama’atu Wa’azi Wal Irshad has representatives in all the 44 local government areas of Kano State and maintains offices across the seven North-West states as well as in Taraba and Nasarawa states. He added that the association’s activities also extend into the neighbouring Republic of Niger.
Imam Ali Aliyu said the association has facilitated the conversion of hundreds of thousands of people from other religions to Islam through its Da’wah activities in Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Taraba, Nasarawa and the Republic of Niger.
According to him, the conversions were achieved through peaceful Islamic preaching, religious education, dialogue and sustained community outreach carried out over the years by the association’s scholars and members.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting the teachings of Islam through peaceful engagement, education and humanitarian service while working with scholars, communities and development partners to strengthen moral values and social cohesion.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a new leadership chapter for Jama’atu Wa’azi Wal Irshad Association as members expressed optimism that Imam Ali Aliyu would build on the legacy of his predecessor and further expand the organisation’s religious, educational and humanitarian activities.
