The Jigawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the sudden death of a 60-year-old man who reportedly died after suffering a medical emergency at a hotel in Dutse.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at about 12:50 p.m., after the deceased checked into the hotel with a 20-year-old woman.
The command said the man reportedly developed breathing difficulties shortly after requesting a meal at the hotel.

Police officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded promptly to a distress call and evacuated him to the General Hospital, Dutse, where medical personnel examined him and confirmed him dead.
Following the incident, detectives secured the scene and carried out a preliminary examination during which they recovered food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal belongings for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police said all necessary procedures were followed to preserve relevant exhibits to aid a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
After medical certification and completion of official procedures, the deceased’s remains were released to his family for burial at their request.
The command disclosed that the 20-year-old woman who accompanied the deceased to the hotel is cooperating with investigators and has been providing useful information to help establish the sequence of events that led to the incident.
Commissioner of Police Haruna Alaba Yahaya assured residents that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, professionally and impartially.
He urged members of the public to avoid speculation or the circulation of unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic or prejudicing the investigation.
The police said further details would be made public as investigations progress.
