The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State Branch, to provide first aid and emergency response training for its personnel.
The Comptroller of Immigration, Kano State Command, Tony Akuneme, stated this while receiving a delegation from the Kano State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two organizations.
Akuneme disclosed that the command is preparing to graduate about 2,000 newly recruited officers, who will require basic first aid and emergency response training.

He said the command would provide the necessary support and create an enabling environment for the Red Cross to conduct specialized training for its personnel.
The Comptroller also revealed that he would communicate the initiative to the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service with a view to extending the partnership to all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Earlier, the executive secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano State Branch, Alhaji Musa D. Abdullahi, said the visit was intended to strengthen the long-standing working relationship between the Red Cross and the Nigeria Immigration Service, as well as other security agencies in the state.
He noted that the Red Cross was fully prepared to train Immigration officers in first aid and emergency response to enhance their capacity to provide immediate assistance when the need arises.
Abdullahi expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the delegation by the Kano State Comptroller of Immigration and commended his commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two organizations.
At the end of the meeting, Akuneme and Abdullahi reached an understanding to deepen collaboration and work together in areas of mutual interest, particularly in capacity building and emergency response training.
