The National Association of Crime and Judiciary Correspondents (NACJC), Kano State Chapter, has paid a courtesy and working visit to the Kano State Police Command, seeking to strengthen collaboration on crime, security and justice reporting.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Abubakar Haruna Galadanci, was aimed at consolidating the existing relationship between the Association and the Police Command, while providing an opportunity for journalists, including those covering radio, to deepen their understanding of emerging security issues and improve professional reporting.
Speaking during the visit, Galadanci appreciated the Command for its consistent support in providing timely and reliable information to journalists, which he said had contributed to accurate and responsible reporting.

He commended the Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, for his professionalism and the Command’s prompt response to media inquiries, noting that journalists rely heavily on the Police for credible information on crime and security matters.
Galadanci said the visit would also expose members to emerging trends in crime and security reporting, as well as the operational achievements of the Command in crime prevention and public safety.
He explained that the Association deliberately included young and upcoming journalists in the delegation to enable them gain practical knowledge, experience and confidence in professional crime and security reporting.
“We appreciate this opportunity to pay this courtesy visit and further strengthen the relationship between us. The Police are the backbone of our news reporting, and we always look forward to informing the public about the successes and achievements of the Police in Kano State,” Galadanci said.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, welcomed the delegation and described the media as a critical partner in effective policing, crime prevention and public safety.
Bakori commended NACJC for the initiative, particularly its decision to involve young journalists, saying such engagements would promote professionalism and improve public understanding of policing and security matters.
He assured the Association of the Command’s continued commitment to openness, transparency and collaboration to facilitate accurate, timely, balanced and responsible reporting capable of promoting peace and public safety.
According to him, the media has an important role to play in building a safer and more responsible society, stressing that public awareness of the consequences of criminal acts could serve as a deterrent.
The Commissioner urged NACJC and other media practitioners to continue supporting the Police by disseminating credible security information and educating members of the public on crime prevention and their collective responsibility for maintaining peace.
Both parties agreed to sustain regular engagements, timely press briefings, prompt information sharing and joint sensitization campaigns on crime prevention and community safety.
The visit ended with an exchange of pleasantries and a group photograph.
