The United Nations kicked off the withdrawal of its peacekeeping troop best known as MONUSCO from the Democratic Republic of Congo Wednesday by handing over a UN base to national police.
GLOBAL TRACKER recalled how people from troubled Goma in northern Kivu province organized a series of protests in 2023 accusing the peacekeeping forces of escalating the already tension in the region, the development that forced President Felix Tshisekedi to request for the immediate withdrawal of the forces from the country.
