The Kano Sports Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN) Football team showcased an impressive performance against the Kurmawa Correctional Service Inmates today earlier in the morning culminating in a hard-fought victory with a 5-4 win via a penalty shoot-out after a thrilling one-all draw during the regulation period.
The match was part of the SWAN Sallah Celebration activities and was witnessed by many supporters.
The Head Coach of SWAN Nura Garba said after the encounter, in my capacity as the team coach, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Allah SWT for this victory.

“I also want to express my deepest appreciation to the Kano SWAN Executive Committee and all the players for their dedication and hard work that made this win possible,” he said.
Despite the challenging weather conditions – characterized by the scorching sun and the nature of the pitch, our players displayed exemplary performance and determination throughout the match.
“I must commend our opponents, the Kurmawa Correctional Service Inmates, for their outstanding teamwork and determination. They played exceptionally well but were perhaps unlucky in converting their chances into goals. It’s worth noting that this defeat marks a rare occurrence for the Correctional Service Inmates, as reported by their officers, as it’s their first loss in over a decade,” Garba said.
