The conflict between the United States and Iran intensified after U.S. air strikes reportedly targeted key maritime infrastructure at Iran’s strategic Chabahar Port, while separate attacks in Bushehr Province stopped short of damaging the country’s only operational nuclear power plant.
According to Iranian state media, the strikes hit two marine piers and a maritime traffic control tower at Chabahar Port, a vital commercial gateway on Iran’s southeastern coast overlooking the Gulf of Oman.
The attack marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, as Chabahar serves as one of Iran’s most important ports for international trade and regional connectivity, particularly with South and Central Asia.
In a separate operation, U.S. forces reportedly struck targets in Bushehr Province in southern Iran. Iranian authorities, however, said the attacks did not damage the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, the country’s only operating nuclear power station.
The reported strikes come amid growing fears that the fragile ceasefire framework between Washington and Tehran is rapidly unraveling.
Iran has repeatedly accused the United States of violating the memorandum of understanding intended to halt hostilities, while U.S. officials maintain that military operations are aimed at protecting regional security and responding to threats against international shipping.
