The Kano State Government has disclosed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration has initiated and executed a total of 1,493 development projects across the state within its first three years in office under the “Kano First” development agenda.
The disclosure was made by the Senior Special Assistant I on Publicity to the Governor, Comrade Al’amin Albarra, in a statement commemorating the third anniversary of the administration.
According to the statement, the projects were implemented between May 29, 2023, and May 29, 2026, following a comprehensive assessment of developmental needs across the state’s 44 local government areas.

The governor’s aide stated that of the 1,493 projects officially captured in the state’s project registry, 799 have been fully completed, while 694 others are at advanced stages of completion.
He described the achievements as evidence of Governor Yusuf’s commitment to transparency, accountability, fiscal discipline, and people-oriented governance.
“Since the inauguration of this administration, government has systematically identified and addressed developmental challenges across Kano State. Through prudent management of resources and strict adherence to due process, the Kano First agenda has transformed government policies into tangible projects that directly impact the lives of citizens,” the statement noted.
Infrastructure and Urban Renewal
The administration highlighted infrastructure development as one of its major accomplishments over the last three years.
Among the landmark projects cited were the construction and completion of the Dan Agundi Interchange, comprising both flyover and underpass facilities, as well as the Tal’udu Flyover and Underpass project.
The government also reported the expansion, reconstruction, and dualization of roads in urban and rural communities across all 44 local government areas of the state.
According to the statement, these projects have significantly improved transportation, enhanced connectivity, and supported economic activities throughout Kano State.
Education Reforms
In the education sector, the administration pointed to Governor Yusuf’s declaration of a state of emergency on education as a major policy intervention aimed at revitalizing the sector.
The statement noted that the government embarked on the mass distribution of school desks, uniforms, and instructional materials to schools across the state.
It also highlighted the sponsorship of 1,001 students to foreign universities as part of efforts to strengthen human capital development and expand educational opportunities for young people.
The administration said these initiatives were designed to improve access to quality education and address longstanding challenges within the sector.
Healthcare Development
The government further listed healthcare as a priority area, revealing that 311 hospitals and healthcare facilities have undergone renovation and upgrading under the administration.
According to the statement, the investments are intended to improve healthcare delivery, enhance access to medical services, and strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Social Welfare and Humanitarian Programmes
The administration also highlighted several social intervention programmes implemented during the period under review.
These include support initiatives for vulnerable groups, mass marriage programmes for widows, community-based development projects executed through local councils, and the construction of new Juma’at mosques in various communities.
The government further stated that it had addressed pension-related challenges by settling pension arrears and outstanding entitlements owed to former local government councillors and other beneficiaries.
Urban Development and Modernization
The statement said the administration has continued to pursue urban renewal initiatives aimed at transforming Kano into a modern and economically vibrant city.
Among the projects highlighted were the solarization of major parts of Kano metropolis and efforts to improve transportation and transit systems.
The government maintained that these initiatives are contributing to environmental sustainability, public safety, and improved quality of life for residents.
Transparency and Accountability
Comrade Al’amin Albarra praised the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in project implementation.
He stated that procurement procedures, project monitoring, and auditing mechanisms have been strengthened to ensure value for money and effective service delivery.
According to him, the Office of the SSA I on Publicity regularly conducts project inspection visits and documents government activities through photographs and video recordings to keep citizens informed about ongoing developments.
Fulfilment of Campaign Promises
The governor’s aide further claimed that through various poverty reduction initiatives, skills acquisition programmes, infrastructure projects, and social welfare interventions, the administration has fulfilled between 85 and 90 percent of its campaign promises.
He described Governor Yusuf’s leadership as purposeful and transformative, adding that the administration remains focused on completing ongoing projects and delivering additional dividends of democracy to the people of Kano State.
Albarra congratulated the governor on his third anniversary in office and prayed for continued wisdom, strength, and good health for him as he continues to lead the state.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the publicity office to continue showcasing government achievements and promoting public awareness of programmes and policies aimed at advancing the development of Kano State.
The statement concluded that the “Kano First” agenda remains the guiding framework for the administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, social welfare, and economic development across the state.
