Police Arrest Two For Brutal Killing Of Social Media Influencer “Dan-Shagamu”

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the brutal killing of Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu, popularly known as Dan-Shagamu, a social media influencer from Gaida Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kano.

Kiyawa said the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, September 8, when the Command received a distress call from the Commander of the Gaida Vigilante Group reporting that unknown hoodlums had forcefully entered Dan-Shagamu’s residence and attacked him with sharp objects.

He said operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division immediately responded and rushed the victim to Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital, Kano, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.

According to the PPRO, the two suspects were arrested following an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Kumbotso Police Division in collaboration with tactical units and community stakeholders, acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

Kiyawa said the suspects were currently in police custody undergoing interrogation, while investigation and forensic procedures were ongoing to establish the motive and identify other persons who may have been involved in the killing.

He quoted CP Bakori as assuring residents that the Command would not relent in its efforts to protect lives and property, adding that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

The PPRO commended the Gaida Vigilante Group for providing timely information that facilitated the swift police response and subsequent arrests.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and assist the Police by providing credible information that could help prevent crime and ensure the safety of communities.
