The Kano State Government has shut down two private health training institutions operating illegally in Nasarawa Local Government Area over alleged violations of regulatory and professional standards guiding healthcare education in the state.

The affected institutions are IBN SINA College of Health Science and Technology located at Dakata Kawaji adjacent to Juma’at Mosque, and Life Line College of Health Science and Technology situated at Dakata Industrial Area, Bela Road, Tsamiyar Gare, along Mai Sikeli Street.

The closure was carried out through the Kano State Ministry of Health following what officials described as a comprehensive assessment of the institutions’ operational and academic standards.

According to the Ministry, investigations revealed that both institutions failed to meet the minimum requirements stipulated for the establishment and operation of health training institutions within Kano State.

The Ministry further disclosed that the institutions were operating without proper verification and approval from the Kano State Ministry of Health and also lacked accreditation from relevant professional and regulatory bodies responsible for overseeing healthcare education and training in Nigeria.

Findings from the assessment reportedly uncovered several deficiencies, including inadequate qualified teaching personnel, poor learning facilities, insufficient infrastructure and failure to comply with approved educational and operational standards required for effective healthcare manpower development.

Authorities also observed poor adherence to professional ethics, regulatory guidelines and mandatory operational requirements designed to ensure quality healthcare education and the competence of future healthcare professionals.

Speaking on the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting students, parents and the general public from institutions operating below approved standards.

According to the Ministry, healthcare workers must only be trained in institutions that satisfy all legal, academic and professional requirements established by relevant authorities.

The government also warned proprietors of private health training institutions across the state to strictly comply with all legal and regulatory provisions guiding their operations.

Officials emphasized that the closure of non-compliant institutions remains necessary to safeguard the quality of healthcare education, protect students from substandard training and maintain professionalism within the health sector.

The Ministry maintained that ensuring quality healthcare education remains critical to producing competent healthcare personnel capable of strengthening service delivery and improving healthcare outcomes across Kano State.

The latest action reflects increasing efforts by the Kano State Government to strengthen regulation within the education and healthcare sectors while protecting residents from unapproved and poorly managed institutions.
