Despite numerous opportunities at both ends, neither side could find a decisive goal during regulation time. The contest proceeded into extra time, where fatigue began to affect both teams, yet the intensity and drama remained.

Arsenal pressed forward in search of a historic winner while PSG relied on their experience and tactical discipline. Nevertheless, the deadlock remained unbroken, forcing the final to be decided by the tension and uncertainty of a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, PSG held their nerve while Arsenal suffered heartbreak. The French side converted four of their penalties, edging the Gunners 4-3 and sparking jubilant celebrations among players, coaching staff and supporters.

The victory marks another milestone in PSG’s remarkable rise in European football. Having finally captured their first Champions League title in recent years, the Paris club has now successfully defended the trophy, becoming the first team since Real Madrid’s historic run between 2016 and 2018 to retain Europe’s most coveted club prize.

For Arsenal, the defeat was a painful conclusion to what had otherwise been a memorable season. The North London club recently ended a 22-year wait for the English Premier League title, reviving hopes of an unprecedented domestic and European double. However, those dreams were dashed in heartbreaking fashion on the grandest stage in club football.

Manager Mikel Arteta praised his players for their effort and determination throughout the campaign, while acknowledging the disappointment of falling short in the final hurdle. Arsenal supporters will nevertheless take encouragement from the club’s return to the summit of English football and its impressive run to the Champions League final.

For PSG, the triumph further strengthens their claim as one of the dominant forces in modern European football. The club’s success reflects years of investment, strategic planning and squad development aimed at establishing a lasting legacy in continental competition.

As celebrations continue in Paris, PSG can now look ahead to the future with confidence, having secured consecutive Champions League titles and written another glorious chapter in the club’s history. Meanwhile, Arsenal must regroup and prepare for another challenge next season as they continue their quest for a first-ever European crown.
