Socio-economic Development: Kano Govt. to Collaborate British Council of Nigeria

The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the British Council of Nigeria and other development partners in all fields of endeavor to bring new initiatives and enhance socio-economic development in the state.

The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, stated this during the launch of the Skyline University of Nigeria International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Test Centre, held at the university premises on Wednesday.

He expressed satisfaction with Skyline University and the Nigeria-British Council Partnership and expressed optimism that such collaborations would yield fruitful results, especially for Kano State.

Kofarmata reaffirmed the commitment of the State Government, under the able leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf, to exploit the opportunities brought by the collaboration.

In a statement by public relations officer, Kano State Ministry for Higher Education Sanusi Abdullahi Kofar Na’isa said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Skyline University Nigeria and the British Council of Nigeria, aiming to enhance the quality of education and research in the country by fostering a dynamic learning environment and encouraging innovation in line with global best practices.

Earlier, Mr. Deep, the Director of Examinations at the British Council of Nigeria, highlighted that Skyline University is set to commence hosting IELTS examinations to align with modern society. He mentioned that the innovation has been introduced not only for traditional Paper-Based examinations but also for Computer-Based ones. According to him, this method will allow candidates to choose their preferred format.

He explained that IELTS was created by some of the world’s leading experts in English language testing and is trusted for its fairness and integrity by more than 10,000 organizations globally.

Mr. Deep further stated that the results of IELTS are delivered in an easy-to-understand Test Report Form and can be viewed online. He affirmed that within 5-7 days, the Test Report Form would be sent to candidates via post.

The Director assured the British Council of Nigeria’s willingness to collaborate with any organization/country committed to supporting their subjects in realizing their aims and objectives.

IELTS stands as the world’s most trusted high-stakes English language test, opening doors to life-changing studies, career opportunities, and migration goals.
